Reflections On The Lakeview East Festival Of The Arts

September 15th, 2011

This past weekend (September 10-11) I participated in my final art fair of the Summer.
The Lakeview East Festival of the Arts is one of my favorites so it's a good way to end
the season. It sends me into the Fall and Winter with lots of positive energy about
my art career. I was in six fairs in all from June to September.

One of the reasons I like this fair is that a number of my paintings depict scenes one
can view in the Lakeview East neighborhood. It's also satisfying when people visit my
booth to hear them talk about the memories some of the paintings evoke. "On Belmont"
was one of the several paintings I sold.
In its 7th year, the Lakeview East Festival of the Arts showcased over 150 juried artists from across the nation and locally. It featured works of art ranging in paintings, sculpture, photography, jewelry, fiber, and fine craft. Throughout the festival music was featured on two stages. Local cuisine from area restaurants was complemented with a beer and wine garden.
Lakeview is one of Chicago's hottest northside neighborhoods with its restaurants, theaters and cabarets, charming shops, and of course, Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs. The Festival is sponsored by the Lakeview Chamber of Commerce and organized by Erin Malloy. I must say they do a stellar job and provide a great event for art lovers! Maybe I'll see you there next year!
